This piece is a self-portrait as Kali, the Hindu creator/destroyer goddess. The angry Kali is on the cusp of cutting off her enemy Raktabija’s head with a scythe. In the myth, his blood drops become his clones and Kali goes on to slay each and every one of them before victoriously dancing on their corpses.
